Whitby is famous for many things, one of which is it’s Jet Jewellery. It’s fossilised wood that sands and polishes up quite nicely and as it’s still found in relative abundance on the beaches of Whitby you can always spy someone hunting for it. I picked up a few pieces myself and plan to use them in my own jewellery, I also picked up some nice bits of sea glass nicely tumbled and smoothed by the sea since it was (so I like to think) thrown into the sea by revellers
